Almost 60 new coronavirus cases reported in the Triangle on Wednesday

Wake, Durham, and Orange counties each reported additional cases of the new coronavirus Wednesday evening.

Wake County has reported 35 new cases, upping its total to 228 cases.

Wake has seen an increase in the number of positive cases every day since its first COVID-19 case on March 2.

The state health department reported 1,584 positive cases of COVID-19 and 13 deaths in North Carolina Wednesday morning. Of those positive cases, 43 percent are aged 25 to 49 years old, said Mandy Cohen, secretary of the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services. But 78 percent of those who died were 65 or older.
